On another adventure with our friend, Fluffy (Austin) and my canon, Frank, we explored a pond. It wasn’t too amazing, and with the water looking a little muddy, I was trying to be extra creative on what to take and how to take them HAHA! As we walked along I found beautiful little streams and when I see those I automatically want to stick my camera as close to the water as possible lol! This might be a bad idea, but I love what the photos look like when I’m done. It was a quiet area, so I hope you can take some time to relax in them 🙂
And I had to sneak a picture of Austin! 😉
Hello again Rango! It has been a long time sense the last time I visited him and he’s grown quite a bit larger sense the last time you all saw him 🙂 He seemed to have been a little shy, but I was lucky enough to get this first shot of him looking right at me! He’s still as beautiful and lovable as ever! I squealed with joy as he crawled onto Fluffy’s (Austin’s) shirt and finally got to his shoulders. When Rango looks into your eyes, he looks deep within your soul, he’s a very serious chameleon, lol, and I just couldn’t help but fall in love with him all over again!
I can’t tell you what an amazing experience it was to be able to go and see these beautiful gardens. I wish they were larger because I think my friend and I spent like an hour there HAHA! But, as you can see, I did take quite a few pictures and it really was just the perfect day to capture all the colors that were there from the rains. I hope you enjoyed these as much as I enjoyed taking them 🙂
“Over hill, over dale,
Thorough bush, thorough brier,
Over park, over pale,
Thorough flood, thorough fire,
I do wander everywhere.”
– A Midsummer Night’s Dream
I couldn’t tell if this one looked better in black and white or in color. Which do you think?
I like to call this post “The Greens and the Steps” When I said it to myself, it almost sounded like the title to a poem or tale haha! I’ve been reading a lot of Edgar Allan Poe lately, when I told that to my husband he said, “Are you depressed or something?” lol! Honestly, I just love getting into his head, be it dark or twisted, I still see the beauty in it, especially in my favorite poem, Annabel Lee. If you’re not familiar with the poem you must read it at once! Someday I’ll take some coast pictures and put in the post a few lines from it, but in this post, it doesn’t quite work.
I know this post has nothing to do with the pictures, I really didn’t have anything clever to add to these today except for the title HAHA! I hope you enjoy them 🙂
… and the Steps
I have so many pictures of these gardens and I’m so excited to be sharing them with you all! HAHA! So there will be more posts to come lol! This first one I played with black and while again. Let me know which one looks better.
Now more photos of my friend Jena, I was playing around with portrait shots again and thought these turned out pretty good 🙂
And… here’s an awesome tree lol! Hope you enjoyed the post 😀
Ok this is where I start freaking out over how amazing a program like Lightroom 4 is! Keep in mind I’ve never had a photo program before like Photoshop or anything, so Lightroom 4 is like amazing to me lol! I took these photos of water and was hoping that maybe I was able to bring out more of the reflections. When I started playing with them I was amazed at how clear I was able to make them! You look into the water, and you have no idea it’s water! Just amazing. I was pretty happy with these 🙂 Let me know what you think!
Which of these first two do you like better? Black and White or Color?
These are the first shots I got after walking into the gardens. They have several different paths and this one went to an amazing waterfall so I had to go there first! I was so sad when I got home to adjust these shots the first waterfall picture has the mans head in the corner of it, as you can see. I wish I would have taken more pictures, but now I know. I swear, I feel like I’m always learning 😛
So here are the next couple of pictures, I hope you enjoy them 🙂
Which waterfall picture do you like better?
I’ve been hearing about these gardens for years, I drove up north to visit my friend Jena, and she had the brilliant idea of going to see it! We were lucky enough to be able to get in for free, thanks to the local library. You have to call to reserve them, they will hold them for you and you just pick them up! It was a good day to be there because it had been raining up there for a few days, but that day the rain had stopped and and the sun would peek out every so often.
I tried to look up some history about this garden online and found a little bit about it. It has 5.5 acres of paths and every kind of Japanese plant you can think of. The garden was designed by Professor Takuma Tono, one of the most important Japanese landscape architects of his time. The garden was designed in 1963, and the garden was opened to the public in 1967.
I have quite a few shots of these gardens, so they will be split up into a few different posts 🙂 There was a market that day so these first couple of pictures are of Jena and some of the plants they were selling. Enjoy!
On one of our amazingly warm days, our friend Fluffy Muffin (Austin), took me on a hike. I love hiking, but I have a really hard time with insects haha! It’s very hard for me to walk through anything that has a web on it, or a visible spider of any kind… anything really just gets under my skin and I start to scream… I’m quite pathetic lol! He took me on this path, that wasn’t much of a path, lol, and I was quite proud of myself that I even got through it! You should have been there, I was shrieking and jumping, it was pretty humorous I’m sure.
We got to this smaller waterfall, but I’m not the happiest with these pictures. It was a really bright day and no matter how much a tried to adjust the pictures, they still turned out pretty washed out. So, even though they aren’t my best work, I hope you all enjoy them 🙂
In this picture below… we were pushing rocks into the water below us HAHA! No worries, it was all safe, I promise lol
I live 10 minutes away from two beautiful lakes that God, has ever so kindly, blessed us with! I wish I liked to swim, lol, but I do enjoy to walk around them, they each have walking trails and my family and I like to go there for some peace and quiet. We try to ignore the sudden voice of a bicyclist that says, “On your left!” as we jump to our rights and they zoom on by 😛 Dorena Lake is definitely my favorite out of the two and has better views in my opinion. So today you’ll be stepping into my world:
Welcome to Dorena Lake! Hope you enjoy the views 😉
My mama 🙂
And my dad 🙂
