Our Trip to the Gorge

The Gorge is the Columbia River separating Oregon from Washington. We got to a town called Hood River and it was already dark. We could see the lights from the charming little downtown area and we really wanted to find someplace fun to eat. Using the app on my phone called, “Yelp” we were able to search what restaurants were in the area in our price range!

Driving along the dark roads we came upon the brewery, “Full Sail”. We’ve seen their beers in the local grocery stores and thought it would be fun to check it out! The reviewers said the Cheese Beer Soup was amazing, so of course I have to give that a try 😀

They sold a beer sampler of a few that they brew at that location. I don’t care much for beer, but their Red Lager was really good!

It was pretty cold so I only took a few outside shots, but I would have to say we would definitely go there again! The Cheese Beer Soup was…. incredible! If you’re in the area, go eat there!

The next morning I ran out of our Hotel to take some pictures of the beautiful Columbia River. Looking across at Washington State, it’s amazing how close we were I almost felt like I could touch it.

Multnomah Falls

Our goal was to drive up to where Mt Hood was and stay the night on the Gorge (aka Columbia River). It started snowing and we didn’t have chains for our tires so we knew we’d have to stop somewhere soon just to make sure we wouldn’t need them later, hoping we could talk to someone at a rest stop about it. We passed by a few waterfalls, it was getting dark so we didn’t see them until right after we’d pass them. Finally we pulled off and there was a restaurant and path going up to this Multnomah Falls. After talking to the information desk, we didn’t need tires up ahead, so we were relieved about that, he told us the falls was right up the hill. I was so excited! I got Frank out and walked up the path …

Let’s Have Some Coffee!

terry1954 invited me for some coffee!

She’s an extremely inspiring and talented person! I’m so thankful to have her as a fellow blogger 🙂

So how this works is that I fill out this little questionnaire and ask others to join me for some coffee! Brilliant right? I’m so excited, I absolutely love coffee lol!

How many cups of coffee per day? I enjoy 2 to 3 cups a day

What is your favorite caffeine delivery system? I love the flavored coffees you get at world market! I don’t have a favorite, just love them all lol!

What was your best cup of coffee? Any cup of coffee shared with a quiet moment in a book 🙂

What was your worst cup of coffee? Don’t buy coffee at Ross! HAHA! It’s old and because of it it always tastes burned… gross lol!

What does your favorite mug say?  Hmmm I don’t think I have a favorite mug, I have waaaaaaayyy too many lol

How do you take your coffee? Powdered non-dairy cream and xylitol sugar (It’s better for your teeth lol)

When was your first cup? Hmmm about 12 or 13 I think HAHA! Did have it much until I was 15 and started working lol

Have you ever gone on a coffee tea date? I go a lot with my hubby 😀

I’d like to invite the following people to have coffee with me! Can’t wait to hear your answers 😀

Cacao Drinking Chocolate – Portland

CRAFT CHOCOLATE AROUND THE WORLD

“Cacao features a hand picked selection of chocolate from around the world, including an extensive range of premium solid chocolate bars from small producers, select chocolate from the best local chocolatiers and makers, and our house-made drinking and hot chocolates.”

A few months ago I saw this TV show on the Food Network called, Unique Eats. Yes, I love the Food Network and watch it often, lol! While watching it they introduced a chocolate shop in Portland called, Cacao Drinking Chocolate. They talked about these chocolatiers and how different they create their own chocolate! There is a woman who has what she calls the “Coffee Bar”, which has absolutely no chocolate in it! Just coffee melted and molded until it’s smooth and sprinkles raw sugar into it so it isn’t so bitter. They also talked about drinking chocolate… I had to find out more lol! Turns out they serve shots and mugs of pure chocolate… I REPEAT… pure chocolate! You need to sip it because it’s extremely filling.

So while we were exploring Portland, I told William we had to stop by there! It was so amazing! We were clueless as to what different chocolate bars were better than others, there was a man working there who helped us pick out different little bars. Then he described the drinking chocolate and I had to try that! It was a very interesting experience.

If you want to read more about it, go to the site above where the quote came from, it’s a really amazing place to visit!

Powell’s City of Books – Portland

This is one of my favorite places to go! I’m crazy about books, I wish I could explain the feeling I get when I read them, they are just what complete me. If it wasn’t for books, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. I’ve experimented with writing short stories and failed novels and have only successfully written one poem, haha, but I think I’m better as a reader than a writer lol!

These explain me … in a nutshell lol

I’d forgotten to take a shots of the outside of this place, but it is HUGE! There are three floors of used and new books, the different floors and category of books are named in different colors!

Check out the website for more details –

I had a lot of fun exploring it for the hundredth time, I always find new books to add to my very long wish list of books I want lol!

Come along and lets get lost in these books together 😀

City Hall of St. Helens

Good day fellow bloggers!

William and I weren’t away for very long, but it was a nice little trip. I was able to photograph quite a few places and different things. St. Helens is one of my favorite little towns to visit, it sits right on the Colombia River. We lucked out, it’s usually very windy on the river, but it wasn’t that windy at all, It was freezing though! HAHA! We spent the first couple of hours there and while eating lunch it snowed a little bit lol!

This beautiful City Hall building was in a Disney channel movie called, Halloween Town and there was a little glimpse of it in the first Twilight movie.St. Helens has had a few movies shot there and it was excited walking around, but on the day we were there almost everything was closed! So we weren’t there long, and because it was so cold I didn’t get as many pictures as I had hoped.

The City Hall is my favorite building to see while I’m there.
