Powell’s City of Books – Portland

This is one of my favorite places to go! I’m crazy about books, I wish I could explain the feeling I get when I read them, they are just what complete me. If it wasn’t for books, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. I’ve experimented with writing short stories and failed novels and have only successfully written one poem, haha, but I think I’m better as a reader than a writer lol!

These explain me … in a nutshell lol

I’d forgotten to take a shots of the outside of this place, but it is HUGE! There are three floors of used and new books, the different floors and category of books are named in different colors!

Check out the website for more details –

I had a lot of fun exploring it for the hundredth time, I always find new books to add to my very long wish list of books I want lol!

Come along and lets get lost in these books together 😀

      1. YEAH! I know I was surprised too lol! I have also read Stardust by Neil Gaiman, have you read any of his stuff? My friends wants me to read his short stories books called, Fragile Things. He’s an interesting fantasy writer 🙂

  1. This is such a great post Amanda ~ love the way you shared your love of books and were able to capture the feeling of that love with your images. I have actually done shots in the library – but have never posted — reminded/inspired me… Oh ~ I saw you just asked about my gear. To be honest until recently I was only using a either my i phone
4 S or Canon S100 point shoot — but received a beautiful new DSLR Canon Rebel t3i just recently ~ so latest post is my experimentation with that! Not sure which settings I used — but so much fun to click away on that thing!!! ~ lots to learn — clearly you are a pro! ~ Much Love xxoo RL

    1. Thank you so much for stopping by 🙂 I’m so glad you enjoyed the photos! I’m definitely not a pro, lol, but that camera is pretty amazing! I’ve heard great things about it, and I’m still learning soooo much. I don’t use a whole lot of settings because I’m still not sure what most of them mean! HAHA! Terrible I know, but I’ll get it eventually 🙂 You are so talented! I can’t wait to see more from this new camera!

  2. You know what, my daughter is exactly the same, she is always reading. She had to read a book for school recently that she hated, but she was determined she would start the book she really wanted until it was finished, so she kept the book she really wanted to read on her lap while reading the other one as inspiration to get through the horrible one.
