About

Well, my amazing husband, William, bought me a new Canon EOS 60D Digital camera, whom I like to call Frank, and I’m starting to finally learn how to take professional photographs. I’ve been taking photographs for about 10 years now but haven’t been reading on how to make them better. Now that I finally have a digital camera to work with, I won’t be burning through a million rolls of film and will be able to perfect what I’ve been doing. I’m willing to learn as much as I can, I have books and DVDs to help me become the best possible. I’m still very new at this so any feedback or advise that anyone wants to give me would be great!

Thank you for checking out my site and welcome to my world of photography πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. I’ve been getting a little overwhelmed with all the information and all the different settings HAHA! But I’m learning to just have fun with it and make it my own πŸ™‚

      1. so many settings! i usually set my camera on A mode (where you select the F stop and the camera automatically selects your shutterspeed to make the best exposure). Having control of my the aperture and the ISO setting is way more important to me than the shutterspeed, and if i want to slow or speed that up, i can do that with the f stop as well. I don’t usually mess with it all that often. I’m a HUGE HUGE HUGE fan of manual focusing though. BOO autofocus! okay, so i’m a focus snob.

      2. for the record, the most important thing (to me and everyone else generally i think) is just getting out and trying new things! it takes a lot of guts to put your work out there, whether its written, created with your hands, whatever! It’s pretty personal stuff and it’s tough to share sometimes. After you can do that, the sky is the limit!

    1. Oooo thank you so much! Yeah I was just thinking to myself if I should start a book blog as well lol! I’m a huge book person and talk about them all the time! I’m so excited to check that book out thank you! Are you reading a book at the moment?

      1. Right now, I’m reading books with my students…2 classics I’ve read many times and one of my favorite contemporary authors: The Pearl (Steinbeck), To Kill a Mockingbird (Lee), and The Bean Trees (Kingsolver). I have The Hunger Games on my Kindle & will go to them when I finish the books for “work.” What about you? What are you reading now?

      2. right now I’m reading the second harry potter book only. Its incredible lol! Ooo gosh its been years and years sense I’ve read those books! I’m kind of read Jane Eyre slowly also, I just want to read so many right now lol

  2. You are a very good photographer, lover, good friend, etc…

I saw almost all the photographs on this blog – but didn’t comment on every. I like Domo, Stevie, Eggs on your latest post, the angle on the next, distance, and the list goes on. But consider all others as liked on every post. And, your love for your husband, the maps of your husband, etc etc… are really touching. Good luck for your adventures with the camera. πŸ™‚ you have a very nice blog here.

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words! You have made me very happy! 3. Hey Wanna Be! It just dawned on me that you’ve been kind of “quiet” for a few days. I’m missing seeing your updates and having you spread your cheer over on my site. Just wanted to check in and be sure you were doing okay!

  4. Hi Amanda, regarding moon shots: Do not rely on the light meter. When I did that I got a big bright ball with no detail. Use manual, f/8.0, 1/250 of second, try ISO of 200, then 300, then 400 (my last one was 400).Full moon tonight. You might want to try different shutter speeds, but these are the settings that have produced the best pictures for me.

Oh yes, I used 200 mm lens on the Canon 60D and previously 300 mm lens on the Nikon D90. I got sharper images with the Canon (but it is also better quality glass).

FULL MOON TONIGHT so I hope you get this message.
